My Research Project

Let me give you an introduction to my project Green space management – Institutions, user demands and governance approaches in Norway Introduction Changing patterns of urbanisation (Antrop, 2004) and building projects within city boundaries (St.meld. nr. 31, (2002-2003)) diminish and fragment urban green spaces in Norway (Halvorsen Thorén, 2010) . This challenges the use of urban green space that is dependent upon time and access as well as motivation (Koppen et al., 2014) and the ability of a place to fulfil the needs of a user (Kaplan and Kaplan, 1989) . Accessible and relevant green spaces have to be where people already live. Public urban green spaces are means to accomplish wider societal aims (Konijnendijk, 2005) , such as social inclusion, inclusive design and health promotion. Such aims link green space to city planning and goals of sustainability, creation of urban networks and further national and international policies, such as the Agenda 21 and EU

Library in Oslo No.1

Summer holiday season even reduced the frequency of trains so I decided to check out libraries in Oslo. It was not simple to find libraries that have longer opening hours. University and college libraries seemed generally to reduce their hours and thus public libraries are my choice for this summer No.1 Public Library Majorstuen It is enjoyable to sit in a public library, I do enjoy people talking silently, the occasional telephone call and < hush > sound from the librarian. It motivates to work and also to take occasional breaks and look at people. The library allowed eating and drinking and they even provided coffee (for a small price) water and most importantly clean toilets.

SLU Alnarp Malmö

I spent a week at the University in Alnarp It was great to get out from Norway and the office and experience another university. I was particllary intrigued by the coffee and food (Fika) meetings at 9:30 and 14:00. Even though you might not be hungry it is great to take just 5 minutes (or more) to grap a coffee. I do want to argue for the set-up of these meet-ups, there is somehting about having a couch, big chair or similar in an informal circular setting with small tables than a set-up with regular chairs where you sit at a table. I greatly enjoyed to just join in to conversations in those meetings. I took the image when I got lost again trying to find my way to the castle, my work place for the week, from the students housing on campus I stayed at. And yes, lost again since every morning I decided to take another route and that was actually possible. There are so many small paths and ways to get around.
